Jonathan Freedland is a columnist for The Guardian and Jewish Chronicle, as well as the presenter of BBC Radio 4′s contemporary history series The Long View. His family memoir Jacob’s Gift, an exploration of Jewish identity, was published in 2005. Since then he has written five bestselling thrillers under the pseudonym Sam Bourne, three of which have Jewish themes: the first set among the Chassidim of Crown Heights, the second in Jerusalem and the third against the backdrop of the Holocaust. He also writes regularly for the New York Times,New York Review of Books and New Republic. In 2008 he won the David Watt Prize for Journalism, having earlier been named Columnist of the Year in theWhat the Papers Say Awards.
